1. N が ほしいです — want a thing
わたしは車がほしいです。
Negative: 今何もほしくないです。
ほしい is an い-adjective: ほしくないです / ほしかったです / ほしくなかったです.
Not used to state a third person's desire directly (that needs ほしがっています, later).
2. V ます-stem + たいです — want to do
わたしは日本へ留学したいです。
Object particle: お茶を/が飲みたいです。 — both accepted
Negative: どこも行きたくないです。たい also conjugates as an い-adjective: 飲みたかったです / 飲みたくなかったです.
Don't use たいですか to a superior — it sounds intrusive. Use 〜ませんか instead.
3. 場所へ V ます-stem に行きます — purpose of going
神戸へインド料理を食べに行きます。
デパートへかばんを買いに行きました。

Works only with movement verbs: 行きます·来ます· 帰ります.
4. どこか / 何か — indefinite
どこか行きたいですか。 / 何か食べたいです。
The particle は/を/へ is normally dropped after どこか・何か.
