3. の replacing a noun
この本はわたしのです。— の stands in for 本.
Exception: の cannot replace a person. あの人はミラーさんのです ✕
4. そうです / そうじゃありません
これは辞書ですか。
— はい、そうです。/ いいえ、そうじゃありません。
Also: いいえ、違います。
5. 〜ですか、〜ですか — A or B
これは「9」ですか、「7」ですか。— 「9」です。
Answer with the item, not はい/いいえ.
6. そうですか
ああ、そうですか。 — "Oh, I see." Falling intonation = understanding; rising = mild surprise.
